What's New at Jennifer and Ryan Books
Welcome to Jennifer and Ryan Books!
We’re so glad you stopped by.
We know these are complicated times—there’s a lot shifting in the world, and here in Canada, many of us are feeling the pressure. It can feel like we’re being pushed around, and the natural response is to stand tall and push back. Lately, we’ve seen a beautiful rise in Canadian pride, with more people choosing to support homegrown businesses and use their dollars to make a statement.
If that’s what brought you here—thank you. We’re truly grateful.
We’re a small, family-run bookstore based in Calgary, Alberta. Most of our books are sourced from local charities and non-profits that do amazing work in our community. When you shop with us, you're not only supporting a Canadian business—you’re helping those organizations continue their important missions.
Yes, we do partner with Amazon Prime Canada. This means we ship our inventory to their fulfillment centers, and while we pay for the service, it allows us to offer fast, affordable shipping to customers across the country. The proceeds still come back to our Canadian business and help us keep doing what we love—connecting readers with great books, and supporting our local community.
So again, thank you for visiting Jennifer and Ryan Books.
We appreciate you, and we hope you find something special today.
Here’s what’s new on our shelves…

The Mallen Streak
Thomas Mallen had many sons—most illegitimate—all marked by a flash of white hair: the infamous Mallen Streak. In 1851, scandal leaves him ruined and forced from his estate, taking with him two young wards and their determined governess. But when the Radlet brothers enter their lives, the legacy—and curse—of the Mallen name resurfaces.
The first in a sweeping trilogy tracing love, loss, and a family haunted by fate.

Book Club Edition
The Mallen Lot
Harry Bensham is happily married to Anna Brigmore, once the devoted governess to his children. His daughter Katie is soon to be wed, and peace finally seems within reach—but the Mallen curse isn’t done yet. Barbara Mallen is haunted by her son Ben, whose stormy temperament and striking features mark him as a true Mallen. Her emotional distance leads her into a forbidden affair with Michael Radlent—the love she lost in The Mallen Girl.
As love turns to tragedy and World War I casts a long shadow, the Mallen legacy tightens its grip on a third generation. Ben’s unraveling feels heartbreakingly inevitable.
